Hi there, my Father; Capt James Stott, in retirement worked for the Pacific Navigation Company and was the Captain of the Queen for it's voyage from Penzance to Tonga. I often wondered what happened to her as all I knew that she had left Tonga. thanks for the great web page on the history. I would like to say I have some pictures, but they might take some finding. Travelled on the Queen of the Isles in the mid to late 60s with my Dad and Brother from St Ives to Scilly and it was the first time I had been sea sick! The Queen came in on the spring tide when the harbour was deep enough for its draft and moored alongside Smeatons Pier. Have some pics somewhere which I will dig out for the site. Great site.

A great ship. Sailed on her a couple of times when she was new. Lovely trip from Penzance to St Ives and back.
A shame to see the state that she is in now.

I remember the Queen of the Isles well - I was a boy in Penzance when she was brought into service on the Scillies run. At busy times she ran in conjunction with the Scillonian but the crossing was a notoriously rough one and she had a bit of a reputation as a sick maker!

My first trip to Scilly when I was around ten was on the Queen of the Isles, and I was sick...very sick on the way over. (Trip back was fine)
Turns out I was not alone, and she got a bad reputation as a spew bucket!
I lived in Hayle then, and remember her on South Quay later.
Nice to see all this history though...well done!

Sad to see her on the beach in the Solomons, it brings back memories of the day she was launched. I was stood between the railway lines and the quay edge on Hotwells Road on the opposite side of the dock to the Albion Yard when she came down the slip.
